What do you want?ย This question has perplexed many for centuries.ย Some don’t know what they want.ย Others know everything they want.ย There are those who think the mere question is ostentatious.ย Yet it can be as humble a question as there is.ย It exactly the question we need to be asking ourselves.
Think of it like this, if you had the magic genie, what would your three wishes be?ย The first answers you give to this question will tell you where your heart lies.ย Do you want fame, fortune, or popularity?ย Do you first want to become a professional athlete, husband/wife/father/mother?ย Do you seek God or world peace?ย Each of these is a “want” or a “desire”.
When I was a child, I wanted to become the centerfielder for the New York Yankees.ย Then I wanted a Lamborghini.ย Then I wanted financial stability for my family.ย Now I want a relationship with God and internal peace.ย I’ve learned when I place this desire first, all the others melt away.ย The other desires can be given to those who are of that pure heart.ย And those who put the worldly desires first will receive them, often without peace in their heart.
Now, What do you really want?
PS. When you come in this week, tell us what you want and we’ll put a ticket in the fish bowl for you.
