Winning by Tim Grover is a must read.ย The author was the personal trainer for Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant, and Dwayne Wade, three of the best professional basketball players to have ever played in the NBA.ย He shares stories, experiences and most of all, what it takes to WIN in sports and life.
Winning challenges us.ย It makes us decide what is truly important to us as individuals.ย Winning removes what others think from the equation and that’s what challenges us. “They” want us to think of others first and ourselves second.ย This is also a good concept.
The selfishness of winning challenges me.ย I used to think that being selfish was always bad but I’ve come to realize that’s not always the case.ย It’s just a different way of going about life.ย In my observations, some of those whom I have labeled as “selfish” also do the most for others.ย Because they focused on winning, they have the means and life experience to also be of service to others.ย That has changed my view on winning and selfishness.
