Our greatest enemy is evil itself and the battle is in the mind. Everyday the human mind has over 31,000 thoughts. Which thoughts are you giving focus to?
You have an organ inside your brain called the Thalmus. Itโs purpose is to serve as a gate keeper to your conscious mind. However like any thief, the evil one knows ways around this gate keeper through your subconscious. Fortunately for us, these back channels are heavily guarded by a network of cross-crossed laser beams called our feelings. The key is to connect your feelings to your Thalmus. This is warriorโs work!
Ever have tension (not a cramp) in your calf? Or feel your heart flutter not due to love? Butterflies in the stomach? When was the last time you experienced anger or sadness? These are all alarms going off alerting you to an intrusion. Your job is to recognize these moments consciously. Doing so expands your Thalmusโ reach. Then teach it if you want these thoughts and feeling to get through to you or if it is supposed to keep them out.
You teach your Thalmus by talking to it. I know it sounds crazy. And right now someone reading this is thinking โI donโt want people to see me talking to myself, theyโll think Iโm crazy! Iโll think Iโm crazy!โ
But we have more than enough alone time in our day to do the work… in our car while commuting to work/grocery store/therapist/etc. First thing in the morning when you wake, in the shower, on the toilet. How about turning off the TV or your phone and be intentional about it?
Yes, it means putting off your favorite show. It means turning off the radio in the car. You have to focus yourself when mowing the lawn. When we seek life improvement, we realize who and what the higher priorities are and we give them our time. Itโs warriorโs work.
Becoming aware of your subconscious feelings and bringing them to the forefront is one of your most powerful tools against evil. Speaking (aloud), with purpose and poise is your only weapon! becoming the warrior you are meant to become means learning to wield your weapon!
Yours in Health and Weโll-being,
Dr. Brian
