Living in an immediate world, many of us, myself included, expect things too quickly.ย I for one get angry and frustrated when I don’t achieve my goals in the time I allot for them.ย I struggle with being inadequate and have to remind myself that it’s not failure, it’s just a lesson in patience.ย They key is to maintain hope and positivity.ย So maybe I have to wait another month or a year.ย There are often overlooked factors we don’t see.ย Those factors can affect us mentally more than they actually do.
Example: right now, were in a spending season.ย Last year Faith got married and this year, Tony is.ย We’re spending to pay for their life events.ย The plan was to have recovered the payments from last year, by now.ย But we’re still spending.ย Even though we have recovered some of last year’s outlay, that we have a second event, we haven’t recovered in full.ย And I have to be ok with that.ย It doesn’t change the goal.ย The goal is just postponed to a later date, while we take care of a second important event.
Like with my savings plans, sometimes we have to adjust focus on our goals.ย Keep the immediate and important thing in focus, remembering the longer term goal is still there.ย Then, when complete with the immediate, adjust the dials and bring the longer term item back into focus.
