Are you healthy? Dorland’s medical Dictionary defines health as: “Not merely the absence of pain and disease but as the optimal state of well-being of the human body.” Personally, I add mind, and soul to the end of that definition. So we must ask ourselves are we living in an “optimal state?”
I used to poo-poo people like Tony Robbins and other self-help coaches. I didn’t need to pound my chest and recite mantras or positive quotes to myself. I was happy, I found God, I exercised, and life was my oyster bed. Until it wasn’t. When it wasn’t depression set in. I became my own worst enemy. The mind says and does things and I understood why so many people hurt themselves or others. I was not living in an “optimal state.” In basketball terms, I wasn’t attacking the rim. Are you attacking the rim of life?
You see, I had to connect the parts into a whole. I had to connect the Father, Son and Holy Spirit or “Man the physical with man the spiritual” we talk about in Chiropractic. Once I made this connection and started stepping out in faith, my mind changed and I gained control of it. Now that I have control of it, it’s about taking time and effort every day to nurture it. We need to nurture ourselves as we nurture our children and our spouses.
For those of you who are living in an “optimal state”, that’s awesome! Please share below how you are doing so and inspire others to move forward. For those who aren’t, what’s holding you back? Share that below and start working on the advice you are about to receive. Your life will change thanks to your attacking the rim.
Yours in Health and We’ll-Being,
Dr. Brian
