Have you given much thought to what it takes to achieve Independence?
Or is it just on July 4th? Is it just a date that some people attained from fighting a war which we weren’t around for but read about in history books? Is it a day off from work to spend grilling with our families?
Would you have fought in that war or would you have gone with the flow of the King of England? How would you have participated? Would you have actively fought or been a supporter? Would have vocalized that support when asked? Would you have stood your ground? Or, would you have been a silent majority? Would that silence have been spent planning or from be out of fear of repercussion?
What is independence to you? Is it someone else allowing you to do what they are ok with you doing? Or is it about being able to do what you do, be who you are, regardless of what others say or do?
Is independence strictly governmental? Or, is it societal, personal, familial?
The thing with independence is when you stop paying attention, you lose it because someone else wants control over you.
