My wife and I decided to DIY one of the kidโs bedrooms back in February. It was kind of thrust on us. When the new roof went on, they didnโt flash something properly and we had a waterfall in this bedroom. Thankfully they did right by us and fixed it. But we also ended up with a textured ceiling abutting a smooth one in a room we were already considering refinishing anyway. Easy decisionโฆ.
So one Saturday afternoon, I demoโd the ceiling. Turns out there were two ceilings. A full inch of drywall to pull down. Then we ripped up the carpet and guess what? Two carpets plus the under padding. We always wondered why the closet door snagged on the rug. The best part was when we hung the new ceiling, the joint for two of the panels was off by about a quarter of an inch. Which was fun to smooth with joint compound. We got it done and the new room looks great!
Funny thing is we werenโt surprised at all. It was completely par for the course with our house. We thankfully went into the project with a โwhat will we find this timeโ mentality.
The Chiropractic takeaways from this home renovation story:
- Have a proper mindset when you come into our office for care. Know there may be some quick fix items and there may also be some not so quick fix items. Proper expectations are key.
- Keep going. Imagine if my wife and quit when we saw two ceilings or two carpets. That would have been a total disaster. If you stop your care too soon, youโll have an incomplete project. Complete your recommended care and yes, keep getting adjusted throughout life for the health of it.
- YES YOU CAN!! You may think you canโt heal. You may have been told you canโt remain healthy throughout life. Weโve seen it time and time again, a living body heals itself and, once there, maintains itself. Weโre here to help aid that process by (re)connecting you and your nerve system now and throughout your life.
Happy renovating!!
