What is your action plan for the cold weather?ย Are you going to hunker down inside and weaken your immune system?ย Or are you going to get outside, breathe the fresh air, and strengthen yourself?
As human beings we are made to adapt to our environment.ย Think about it, as a species we survive in every known climate from the scalding hot desert to frigid polar ice caps.ย ย Just like muscles, we need to exercise our nerve and immune systems.ย Like a good exercise routine vary your routine and make it fun.
For most of us that is simply challenging ourselves to spend a single day per week outside during the colder months.ย I’ve taken up disc golf.ย It incorporates a three mile hike and i’ll throw discs at a target in the process.ย Its fun, engaging, and we play as a family.ย You can even play it year round.ย For others it’s taking up a winter sport like skiing or snowboarding.ย And others, taking that to the extreme and jumping out of a helicopter to ski the most dangerous mountain terrain on the planet. What’s your level of commitment?
You can certainly handle at least one day per week getting outside, enjoying the chilly air and seeing the sun with no screen filter.ย Both your nerve system and immune system will thank you for it.
