At the time of this writing I am taking on the 1776 Challenge in support of The Wounded Warrior Project.ย The Challenge is to do 1776 push-ups in July and I am at 680.ย The challenging part for me is overcoming the pain of a reconstructed shoulder.
Chest and shoulder based pushing exercises aggravate my shoulder.ย When I had the surgery, I was told it’s usually good for about 20 years then needs a clean up.ย I’m currently approaching 30 years with no ill affects.ย ย I also know that what I put my mind to, I can accomplish.ย Sixty push ups per day for 30 consecutive days completes the challenge.ย I can do that.ย I also figured out if I do 80 push ups per day, I can take a rest every fourth day and allow my shoulder to recover.ย So four times per day, I do a set of 20 push ups.ย Every fourth day, I rest.
Brave men and women put their lives on the line for each of us and the freedoms we hold dear in the US.ย I can make my adversity my advantage to support them.
