Autumn reminds me that it’s time to change something.ย ย I get reflective in the autumn and tend to shed something.ย An old habit, lingering thoughts, sometimes we need to let go of people.ย It’s always something about myself that I no longer need.ย Shedding the outer self and getting to our core is a beautiful thing.ย It simplifies our life and makes decisions easier because we know who we are and what our purpose is.ย It’s also hard work that requires, letting go.
Me, I’m shedding some old stories I’ve told about myself that were helpful at the time, but no longer.ย I’ve had a habit of saying “That’s not me”, “I don’t do that”, “That’s not who I am.”ย I’m repositioning these statements as, “this is who I am”, “this is what I like/want”, “this is what I do.”ย It’s a simple, yet profound shift.
Dr. Peter Amlinger, a mentor of mine, is friendly with a Native American tribe in Ontario, Canada.ย They say to shed husks that don’t grow corn.ย What husks are you shedding?
