I absolutely love the TV show The Big Bang Theory. A huge nerd myself, sometimes I just laugh at the fact that I can often understand what the geeky scientists are talking about with their experiments.
In one episode, Leonardโs mother, Beverly, comes to visit and is being driven to her hotel by Leonardโs girlfriend, Penny. While they are in the car, Beverly points out that Pennyโs โcheck engineโ light is on, and Penny brushes it off, saying โYeah, I gotta put a sticker over that.โ We laugh because we know that it is ridiculous to ignore an obvious warning sign of a breakdown, but this comment also made me think about how people deal with their bodiesโ warning signs.
What do you do when you experience symptoms? Do you go for the quick โfixโ of masking the true problem with a drug, essentially putting a sticker over your โcheck engineโ light? Or do you fix the engine, your body?
Getting checked regularly by a chiropractor helps keep your body in working order by fixing the cause, not by merely masking the symptoms.
