Far too many humans choose to ignore our feeling in favor of our thinking.ย We need to get in touch with the non-verbal communications that life is sending us.ย That is what feeling is all about.
โFeelingโ is contrasted with our โfeelings.โย Feelings are attachments that we place on people, things, events, etc.ย For example, we are attached to our spouse, our children, or our parents and therefore have feelings for them.ย When something happens to them, our emotions change in concert.ย When they win an award, we are elated.ย When a friend moves away, we are sad with them.ย When my son stubbed his toe this morning, I felt his pain.
For the longest time I confused โfeelingโ and โtouch.โย Touch is what you sense when the oven is hot and when snow is cold. ย It is the mechanism by which the brain determines soft, hard, rough, smooth, etc.ย Touch can be utilized to translate โfeelingsโ to another person as when you place your hand on someoneโs shoulder.
โFeelingโ on the other hand is non-verbal communication.ย I remember when we walked into our house the first time while we were looking to purchase a home.ย Suzy and I turned to each other and โknewโ it was the right one.ย There was an energy in the house which we felt and resonated with.ย Another example, have you ever met someone and just been turned off by them?ย You may not have said a word to them, but you know they arenโt someone you want to approach or get to know.ย You were โfeelingโ that person, using non-verbal communication.
Healing occurs when you feel.ย Itโs why numbing yourself with drugs is not the answer to your problem.ย Drugs inhibit your ability to feel and therefore inhibit your ability to heal.ย Feeling is another way to express innate living, therefore help you heal.
PS.ย Re-read the first paragraph and this time, read it without the plural โsโ in โfeeling.โ
