Wearing high heals is one of the most stressful situations you can put your body through.ย It changes biomechanics (how your body moves) by shortening your calf and achillies tendon and placing weight on your toes.ย How long can you walk on your tip toes without aid?ย Long term this leads to arthritis. because your feet and toes aren’t meant to bend that way.ย They’re designed to flex (curl under the foot) not extend (lift upward).ย Sure they do extend but not designed to maintain that position for long periods of time.
From there, you have to hyperextend your spine, commonly at the L5/sacral junction to maintain balance.ย This jams your spinal facet joints together, degrading them.ย Think of rubbing two bards together the long flat way.ย Over time, the two boards will sand each other down.ย In the body we call that arthritis.
Sure, it looks sexy.ย During short time spans of a couple hours at a time, no harm is done.ย But over time with repetition, the body breaks down from the stress.
