A couple of weeks ago I was simply standing at the adjusting table answering a memberโs questions when my knee gave out. It was agonizing, like someone took a knife and stabbed me in the knee and then kept going. I hobbled through the remainder of the adjusting shift and hobbled home. The next day I was in the office with a cane. Even though I get checked every week, I still injured my knee.
Right about now someone is asking themselves, โWell, I thought Chiropractic is supposed to help prevent injuries? Though that is a benefit of Chiropractic, it is not the purpose of Chiropractic.
Chiropracticโs purpose allows for the independent and optimal expression of life. As Dr. Fred Barge once wrote โA Life Without Fear.โ Let me ask you a question, would you rather spend your last days in a nursing home with people pumping you full of medications at pre-scheduled times or would you rather be out there doing what it is you love to do, living freely?
Maybe you want the nursing home; in which case, Chiropractic is not for you. You would be better served through a medical practice. Maybe you are like me and donโt want to end up in a nursing home. You want to live freely, on your own, with your spouse, active until the day you die. Chiropractic can help you. After we die and our headstone is placed, the dash between our birthday and death day will define our life. Do we want it to define us as โlived fearfullyโ or โlived fearlessly?โ
Itโs your choice and now is a perfect time to reflect on how you want to live. Chiropractic is here to help you achieve such goals. The more often you are checked, the more likely you are to remain clear. Weโll see you soon and bring a friend.
