I remember when I was sixteen, my first job was working for a Stop and Shop in West Hartford.ย Two of my friends soon joined the store and we were asked to collect carts in the parking lot.ย Being that the three of us were training for football, we decided to have a competition of who could push the most carts.ย The goal was to push those carts across the main drive in front of the store and into the cart well.
When it was my turn, we stacked 155 carts.ย They stretched across the entire parking lot.ย I ran to the back and began to push.ย It seemed like nothing was happening.ย but I remembered my training and coach Styles, yelling at me “Keep your feet!!”ย So I kept driving my legs.ย My buddies were yelling at me to stop because nothing was happening.ย I’d yell back, “they’re moving!”ย Each time the joking response was “no they’re not.”
As I kept pushing, people would walk by and shake their heads and yell at me to stop.ย But I kept going.ย After about a full minute of me “keeping my feet”, there was a “clang” as the carts condensed into each other and the entire pile began to move.ย Now the shoppers were stopping to watch and cheer me on.ย My buddies, seeing the cart line moving ran to the front of the line to direct it into the cart wellย I moved the entire line of 155 carts about fifty feet around a corner.
While the store manager wasn’t happy that we blocked the entry, exit and main drive, he was smiling as he said so, and I accomplished what I set out to do.
Inside of you is everything you’ll ever need to be the strongest, healthiest person you can be. In today’s world, it’s important to note that your immune system is equipped to handle everything thrown at it.ย It may take a moment to get it going, but it WILL win given enough time.
We’re seeing this on a large scale also.ย Even as more people are being infected, fewer people are dying as our collective immune systems weaken the virus.ย As a country, we need to remember to “keep our feet”
Have a great week and whatever you are doing or facing, “keep your feet!”
