Fibromyalgia is a controversial pain condition that afflicts thousands of Americans. It keeps people from working, feeling well, and sustaining an active lifestyle. Many parents who suffer with Fibromyalgia withdraw from their families, their spouses, their children and their friends because they can not take the pain. What you need to know about people with Fibromyalgia is that their pain is real. They need our support.
The good news about Fibromyalgia is that help is available. Many Fibromyalgia sufferers resort to medication and pain management because they donโt know what else to do.But you can help them because Chiropractic has been shown to be of great benefit.
Iโd like to tell the story of Jane (Iโm changing specifics to protect privacy) a patient we recently had enter our office with a medical diagnosis of Fibromyalgia.Jane had been diagnosed about ten years ago.She had pain in her arms and legs and could hardly move.Work required her to be on her feet all day and she was in constant motion. At home she kept up with everyday household chores but many such as vacuuming and dishwashing made her pain worse. She said her house was a constant mess because she often felt like resting instead of cleaning.Awful!
Jane was given a number of medications; some heavy narcotics.None of them worked to relieve her pain. The worst part of all was it was obvious when she came in there was no joy in her life.In fact, when she came to us she was smoking marijuana like many people smoke cigarettes because it was the only thing she had found to relieve her pain. She knew it was wrong and wanted to quit, but every time she had tried the pain came back and was worse than before.Jane was a mess!
After an examination revealed Jane was subluxated (for her it was C1) we got right to work correcting her spine and releasing innate. At the first re-exam Janeโs scan showed improvement and Dr. Nardi encouraged her to reduce her smoking. She agreed to cut back and after a week realized the pain wasnโt any worse than when she came in.At her second re-examination the scans again showed improvement and Jane said she had stopped smoking marijuana with no painful affects. She was free and clear of pain in about 2.5 months. She keeps a clean house and is even spending more time playing and studying with her son.
Janeโs story is just one of many that could have been told.We are confident that we can help people like Jane every time.If you know someone with Fibromyalgia or a story similar to Janeโs refer them into the practice for a subluxation check up.
