Today’s edition of The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly:
G: Back in March, while driving into the office I slowed down because a deer was on the side of the road.
B: The deer decided to cross the road about 2-3 car lengths in front of me
U: When I looked into the rear view mirror, 2-3 car lengths behind me was a blue Mercury Mountaineer that hadn’t yet hit the brakes.ย Then when they did, I saw that “OH $it!” expression on the driver’s face as she hit the brakes.ย Her hair went flying, I heard the tires screech and watched her yank the wheel to the right and their car went up on two wheels.ย My only move was to pull to the left, across the yellow lines.
Back to the GOOD:ย The deer got safely across the street and there was no accident.ย The other driver pulled over into the breakdown lane and must have caught their breath for a moment because they caught up to me at the next traffic light.ย Had I not moved across the lines, or she not pulled to the right, this would have been a different story.
What I love the most is how calm and alert we keep in the face of potential tragedy.ย Then it was over… “next.”ย Keep in touch with your own innate and you’ll always come out on top and often unscathed.ย Let it flow.
