Cigarettes do not CAUSE cancer…

I recently read an article regarding cigarettes and the causes of cancer.  Let me ask you a question, do cigarettes cause cancer?

The author had an interesting point of view.  It was that cigarettes do not cause cancer.  I was appalled.  We all know that cigarettes cause cancer especially lung cancer.  The article was filled with medical evidence that cigarettes do cause cancer.  Interlaced with the medical evidence were comments from the tobacco industry stating they were going to fight the evidence and unfounded accusations.  The author maintained his position that cigarettes do not cause cancer, without any scientific evidence to support him.  At the conclusion of the article the reader is convinced that cigarettes cause cancer and the author is an idiot.

I woke the next morning with the nagging question…Do cigarettes cause cancer, or do the people who choose to smoke cause cancer in themselves?
