This is my favorite time of year.ย The grass is getting green, trees and flowers are providing color, and were playing baseball.ย Baseball has taught me much in life.ย The greatest of which is how to overcome daily adversity.
I was watching yesterday’s Yankees game and form Major League player, Carlos Beltran is a new Yankees announcer.ย The lead play caller, Michael Kay made a joke of a player talking to himself in the batter’s box.ย Without missing a beat, Carlos chimed in and reminded Mr. Kay that baseball is a game of failure.ย Batters go up to hit and are successful if they get a hit 2 out of every 10 at bats and are hall of fame caliber if they get a hit 3 out of every 10 at bats.ย He reminded everyone that more often than not the batter will fail to produce.ย He stated players have to believe in themselves and their abilities to remain in the game.ย That it is not uncommon for players to get down on themselves and have to talk themselves up to keep doing what they’re doing.ย And this is a Hall of Fame caliber player saying it’s what he did most days when he stepped up to the plate.
If that is what a Baseball Hall of Fame caliber player does at work every day.ย How about the rest of us? What do we do when things don’t go right or we have an off day?ย Self-talk to pick ourselves up is vital to our existence and success in life.ย Regardless if we are speaking about home, work, or hobbies.ย WE must master the art of self-talk to be successful.ย How does this apply to our health?ย If you are reading this on social media, comment below.ย If you are reading it via email, reply with a comment.
