For a split second on Sunday, January 30 I thought I might die.ย Not because I knew I had COVID (at that point I didn’t) but because it’s common and natural to think that way when you are sick.ย And yes, I was sick.ย I was sweating through layers of clothes, getting chills, having difficulty breathing, and nausea.ย This is where our mental training kicked in…
Far too many people succumb to the fear of what could or might happen.ย They never give themselves a chance to see what is positively possible.ย Chiropractic teaches us to own our own life and destiny.ย We learn that we have the ability to dictate how our life goes.ย While on the couch recovering, I watched the movie “14 Peaks.”ย It’s about a mountaineer who sought to climb all fourteen of the world’s 8000 meter peaks in seven months.ย The first person to have done this feat took 16 years!!ย While the story and movie were inspiring, it was the mother’s courage and determination that drew me.ย I won’t tell you what happened, but suffice it to say, when you watch it, her story’s application to todays post will become most evident.
Telling yourself what will happen is a self-fulfilling prophesy.ย Whether you will or won’t succeed, either way, you are right, so you may as well think positive, expect miracles, and speak your reality into existence.ย When a negative thought enters the mind, a master will recognize it, cancel it, and speak life into their (or another’s) life.
Think about it… If you expect the worst and it happens, you’re right and you’ve bet against yourself.ย The more noble and proper action to take is to expect the best outcome and take steps needed to achieve it.ย This way you get to experience the joy of not only being correct, but you get to give thanks, and live in abundance of self determination.
And that was the follow up to my split second of doubt.ย I immediately said, “cancel” the thought and gave thanks for my infirmity and the challenge it presented me to strengthen myself and my mental resolve.ย I saw it all as a form of exercise.ย It didn’t matter what it’s name was, I focused on what I felt and was experiencing in that moment.ย I felt the fever, the aches and pains, where they were and how they felt.ย I engaged in the reality.ย That made me present.ย And positivity always comes from being present.
The next time you find yourself in a challenge, focus on the experience of the moment and set your mind on the outcome you want.
