I recently went to a Hartford Wolfpack game with some members of a business networking group I belong to.ย It was a fun night and the Wolfpack won in OT.ย What made it memorable for me is that I brought my two boys and seeing the joy on my youngest face was worth it all.
Call Out What You Want
Like many kids, Ian wanted to see himself on the Jumbotron.ย And like many kids of today, he knows all of the Fortnight dance moves.ย For two whole periods he stood in the aisle Flossing.ย For you without kids this is a dance move of the day where you see the kids shaking their hips while pretending to “floss” with a string.ย Ian is pretty good at it and one night previous he and my daughter attempted to teach me how to do it.ย I’ll stick to mosh pits thank you.
Anyway, the cameras only pick people wearing Wolfpack items to put up on the screen and Ian didn’t have any.ย So, during the second intermission Sonar (the Wolfpack mascot) was throwing T-shirts into the crowd and aimed one our way.ย I’m thinking, please send one to Ian, he wants this so badly and is trying so hard to get seen.ย Sure enough, Sonar throws one in our direction… but it lands over us on the walk way area.ย He was disappointed.
Wait With Faith and Expectation
Sure enough, one of my group members, Rob from Renuit Renovations had gone out to grab a drink and that T-shirt landed on his foot as he returned.ย On his way down to our row, he was being yelled at to “give to the kid” because, you know, that’s what a good adult does and there were tons of kids around him.ย On his way down he hands the T-shirt to Ian and his face just lights up.ย He put it on over his shirt and wore it proudly for another period plus.
Receive Your Longing
Within five minutes, Ian was dancing with another member of our group, Rachel from Paychex, doing the YMCA.
And there he is, with a soda in one hand and doing the hand motions to YMCA the two of them are up on the Jumbotron.ย Ian is smiling from ear to ear, jumping up and down and loving life, living in the moment.ย It was a great sight to see.
Chiropractic is about listening to your innate spirit.ย When you do, you’ll find happiness, joy, and healing.ย Luke 18:16 records Jesus as saying, “let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these.”ย I have always felt this references the joy and happiness that children always express.ย They are giddy with the simple things in life.ย They have no boundaries barriers or standards.ย No need for the finer points of life.ย Just a t-shirt and a picture on the Jumbotron at a hockey game are enough to connect with Spirit and bring us joy and healing.
Let’s live like children this week.ย Let’s all heal.
