What would you do with an additional $20,000 per year?
We just heard from a patient who owns his own local construction company. He has been under care for about 6 months beginning his care due to major back pain. He had been everywhere, you name the specialist, he has heard from them. All anyone ever did was write him a script which he happily filled to relieve his pain. But over and over the pain returned each time worse than before. All in all, he tried over 18 different medications, often at the same time. He also considered back surgery, but knew he didnโt want to go that route.
Then he found chiropractic. At first, his pain went away, just like with all of the meds. So he remained skeptical about the long term effectiveness. He chose to wait and see, reserving judgment until another time. Within six months he was off all of his medication and pronounced himself fit again. The pain did not return and our friend is a happy camper.
Then he learned more of the truth. When he did, it hit him like a ton of bricks. Just last week he was sitting down with his accountant regarding his taxes. His accountant told him that going to the Chiropractor was the best decision he has ever made. Not only did it heal him of his pain, but it will save him over $20,000 for 2009. That number was totaled up from 2008 co-pays for doctorโs visits, medications and the ability to reduce his insurance coverage from $900/mo for his family to $400/mo for his family because he no longer needed the doctorโs visits and medication.
Would you like to save money on your health care? Yes. Even if it was $1000 over the year, wouldnโt it be worth it; especially in โtough economic timesโ like these. Imagine saving that same $1000 over 5, 10 or 20 years. How would your HR department head like to hear how you can save the company $20,000 annually (per person) on health care? Think of all the money they spend on insurance coverage alone. The national average is $8000 per person annuallyโฆmultiply that by the number of employees at your company.
How about the state? The governor is slashing the budget, cutting personnel with layoffs. Think of the millions of dollars the state is spending on healthcare; โฆ for medications, surgeries, doctorโs visits, etc. Wouldnโt $20,000 per person save jobs? Yes. Not only that, but wouldnโt it help some of them get healthy also? Yes.
The president just proposed an economic stimulus plan that could cost the taxpayers about $1 Trillion. The USA spends over $1 Billion annually on healthcare. What if the national Medicare plan saved $20, 000 annually per person? Would it help reduce the national deficit? Yes.
