Back after the Grammy’s I read a post on Facebook from someone ranting against a Fox News announcer for bashing the performers and their performances. He was defending the artists right to perform and praising them for their performances. Many people supported his position. Some people defended the Fox News announcers. They shared a Christian viewpoint which stood in opposition the the Satanic imagery from the broadcast. The same people who defended the artists were now attacking faith in general as well as those sharing theirs.
When will we all learn to accept others as they are? We don’t have to like them. We do have to love (on) them. Both sides claim love and peace and goodwill, yet all speak hate and bigotry. The sides are more alike than different. Each blames the other to justify their position. Neither takes a look in the mirror to see where they themselves can change.
America is a grand experiment where people of different walks of life can come together and live in the same country, the same area and despite their differences, live together in peace and harmony. Our country was founded on acceptance of difference. We need to get back to those roots and remember how to have civil eye to eye conversation, and shake hands at the end.
